The Summons Issue, Updated
Remember about a month ago when The New York World took a look at where summonses were handed out, and what they were for? And how though there were 350,000 issued in NYC in 2011, just 76 of those were in Park Slope? Well, The New York World agreed that the number seemed kinda low, so they looked into it some more, and found out where the problem was.
Turns out that while they had gotten the info from the New York City Criminal Court, most of the data for the 78th Precinct’s summonses goes through the Red Hook Community Justice Center. The number they found there: 3,339 summonses for the 78th.
That’s still just a rough estimate, though, and they weren’t able to break down what types of summonses were issued. But we’re willing to bet that there was at least one for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and more than just one for Unreasonable Noise, as were the stats before.
