Updated: The Church Avenue Mela Is This Sunday, May 17

Updated Friday, 5:39pm: The Bangladeshi-American Friendship Society will be hosting a Mela (street fair) this Sunday, May 17, from 11 am to 6 pm on Church Avenue, between E. 2nd and E. 3rd Streets.

Expect the full compliment of stalls selling food, gold bangles and other jewelry, eye-catching patterned fabrics banded in gold, saris, and most likely, an assortment of healthcare plans, Kensington politicians, singers and dancers. It’s certainly worth a detour to find out.

This is the first time the society will be holding it in conjunction with the 66th Precinct.
