The Greenmarket Report: Start Baking Practice Pies

Today at 11am, stop by the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket to taste some market-inspired bites from Chef Jacques Gautier of Palo Santo and Fort Reno. Then buy some apples and start planning your pie baking strategies, because the annual apple pie bake-off is coming up on October 20. The contest will be held at the market, and when the judging is done, there will be tastes for all. Sign up at the info tent or email sblatteis@greenmarket.grownyc.org.

Over at the Park Slope Farmers Market, occasional attendees Brooklyn Winery and Raaka Chocolate join the newest day vendor, Mommy’s Yummies, who round out the usual lineup of produce, breads, chutneys, cheeses, and meats/meat-alternatives. Also, look out for more pumpkins and pumpkin-flavored treats.

The GAP Greenmarket runs from 8am to 4pm at Grand Army Plaza. The Park Slope Farmers Market goes from 11am-5pm along 4th Street at 5th Ave.
