The Greenmarket Report: Pumpkin Decorating & Apple Tasting

Pumpkins, apples, and a little inspiration to do some fall cleaning this weekend at our local markets!

Stop by the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket on Saturday, October 26 from 10am to 1pm for the Pumpkin Festival, where if you purchase a pumpkin from one of the market’s farmers, you can bring it to the information tent to decorate it. Plus, artistic volunteers will be on hand to paint faces of the young, and young at heart!

Over at the Park Slope Farmers Market on Sunday, October 27, stop by the manager’s tent for a free sample of the variety of juicy apples currently available at the market! Plus, starting this week, bring your old clothes and other textile to be recycled by Green Tree Textile Recycling. Green Tree collects textiles of all kinds — for used clothing in good condition, they give it people in need, and for textiles beyond repair, they deliver them to “environmentally-minded manufacturers” who recycle them into useful products.

The GAP Greenmarket runs Saturdays from 8am-4pm at Grand Army Plaza. The Park Slope Farmers Market runs Sundays from 10am-5pm along 4th Street at 5th Ave.
