The Greenmarket Report: Pop Making & Pie Planning

This weekend, it’s all about taking inspiration from fall’s bounty and turning it into something even more delicious.

Pick up some of the many varieties of apples the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket today so you can make a practice pie in preparation for the annual Apple Pie Bake Off, coming up on October 12. Sign up starts now at the market’s information tent, or you can email emailchiteshew@grownyc.org to get in on the action.

Then get ready to make your own alternatives to soda at the Park Slope Farmers Market tomorrow. With Food in Mind is hosting a Fruity Pop Workshop from 11am to 2pm for kids ages 6-11 (parents are welcome to join in) to show how to make simple fruit juices from fresh produce (maybe some apple juice to go with your apple pie?).

The GAP Greenmarket runs Saturdays from 8am-4pm at Grand Army Plaza. The Park Slope Farmers Market runs Sundays from 10am-4pm along 4th Street at 5th Ave.
