The Greenmarket Report: Apples, Apples, and More Apples

It is peak apple season, and our local farmers markets are celebrating this weekend.

Head over to the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket at about 11am today to taste the sweet creations of your neighbors in the annual apple pie bake-off, and then pick of a few different varieties to bring home and try in your own pie (or muffins, or sauce, or just for snacking – the possibilities are endless).

If you don’t know a Macoun from a Braeburn, then stop by the Park Slope Farmers Market tomorrow between 12 and 2pm, where they’ll be hosting an apple tasting to help you eat your way through the differences.

The GAP Greenmarket runs Saturdays from 8am-4pm at Grand Army Plaza. The Park Slope Farmers Market runs Sundays from 11am-5pm along 4th Street at 5th Ave.
