Rhoda Jacobs Wins 42nd Assembly District Democratic Primary Race

Rhoda Jacobs has won the Democratic primary race for the 42nd State Assembly District (map) by a significant margin.

With 91% of precincts reporting, Jacobs captured 69.7% of the vote (3,182) to Rodneyse Bichotte‘s 30.3% (1,381) according to the Times. There is no Republican opposition to Jacobs slated for the general election.

After a heated race in a district where the demographics have changed enormously in the decades since Jacobs was first elected in 1978, Rhoda’s win and margin of victory came as a surprise to New York Observer political reporter Colin Campbell who tweeted, “Rhoda Jacobs amazingly looks like she’s gonna hold on. 15% white district. Wow.”

Here is Bichotte’s concession.

Ed Powell won his bid for District Leader according to Yaacov Schapiro, Jacobs’ Community Liaison.

In the 44th Assembly District (map), Assemblyman James Brennan won the Democratic and Working Families Party primaries unopposed.
