The Day: Young Dancers, an Outdoor Concert and a Delicious New Deli

• Prepare to be floored: A group of high-school age dancers are performing their own original choreography this afternoon at Long Island University Brooklyn’s Kumble Theater. Young Dancemakers Company, a summer dance ensemble for teens, is comprised of New York City public high school students selected by audition each year. The company is now in its 18th season of giving free concerts throughout the city. The performance is free, but reservations are required. • If you’re looking to have some fun after work this evening, head over to Fort Greene Park, where the Fort Greene Park Conservancy is hosting its second Greene Music event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The featured act is Red Baraat, a bhangra funk band, with Debo Band and DJ Duane Harriott opening. Habana Outpost will sell food and drink to keep you energized enough to dance the night away. Plus there will be (no kidding) valet bike parking on Myrtle Avenue.
• Theo Peck, great-grandson of the owner of legendary kosher dairy deli Ratner’s, is starting a deli of his own in Clinton Hill, the Wall Street Journal reported. Peck’s store will sell prepared foods that remix and revive traditional Jewish deli fare for new audiences. His new 850-square foot store and deli counter, Peck’s Specialty Foods, will be complete with an outdoor picnic table seating area. Count on it opening this September on Myrtle Avenue.
