Today is expected to be another hot day in the neighborhood, with the city’s Office of Emergency Management’s heat advisory still in effect until 6 p.m tonight. If you’re out in the neighborhood today, remember to stay hydrated and stop by a community cooling center if you’re feeling overheated.

  • Long Island College Hospital stopped accepting ambulances and new patients last week, resulting in 36-hour waits for hospital beds at Fort Greene’s Brooklyn Hospital Center, The New York Daily News reported. A Brooklyn Supreme Court Judge, who had previously ordered that the state-run hospital had to remain a “viable medical center,” delayed a ruling yesterday on the legality of the hospital’s ban on new patients.
  • If you’ve ever been stymied over whether to get a croissant or a doughnut with your morning coffee, you can now have both. The cronut, a croissant-doughnut hybrid that’s the latest foodie craze, has now arrived at Le Petit Bakery on Myrtle Avenue, reported Myrtle Minutes. Do you think there will be long lines and sellouts like we’ve seen in Manhattan?
  • In other food news, the bao bun food trend has arrived on Myrtle Avenue, according to a Brooklyn Based review of Clinton Hill’s new restaurant Splitty. Splitty opened over the weekend, taking the place of Rope, which closed last October. If you’re in the mood for some asian fusion, stop by the new restaurant and let us know what you think, locals.
