Get your questions ready for the monthly 66th Precinct Community Council meeting at 7:30pm this Thursday, November 12, at Community Board 12’s office, 5910 13th Avenue. The invitation requests—nay, encourages you—to meet the Commander, Captain Kenneth Quick in person. And since we’re coming up on Thanksgiving, praise or thanks to the 66th wouldn’t be remiss.

“Capt Quick will update the community on the latest crimes in our area and what is being done about them,” the invitation reads. It is the ideal place to bring any crime—or other—issues you have to the precinct’s attention since the Community Affairs’ officers, the Shomrim, Community Board 12 members, and some elected officials are often present. Moreover, the monthly meeting is where you can find out about the many kinds of programs the NYPD offers to the public, some of which you might find useful.

The Community Council provides the critical interface between the citizen and the police through its regular monthly meeting, usually held on the third Thursday of the month at 7:30pm at Community Board 12’s office. The event is free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome.

Below are the crime statistics for last week. Total crime events are up slightly, both for 28 day and weekly figures. Burglaries are down, especially compared to last month when Capt. Quick issued an alert to Kensington residents. The biggest rise, both for 28 day and weekly figures, is grand larceny, often cell-phone theft.
