Thank You To Everyone Who Made Our Area Beautiful This Weekend
Residents joined the Flatbush Development Corporation (FDC) in cleaning up our community last Saturday. Volunteers painted over graffiti, planted flowers, and did all sorts of things to make our neighborhood even more beautiful.
Each year, the FDC arms a group of volunteers with paint and gardening supplies and they work their way north from Newkirk Plaza, while the Church Avenue BID starts with another group near the park.
The two groups work towards each other, and end at the Thompson/Lewandowski home for a party.
The 70th Precinct’s Sergeant Blain joined in on the day’s activities, as did some of our local Neighborhood Coordinating Officers and the 70th Precinct Explorers.
Neighborhood Beautification Day is “one of those days where NYC is at its best and we are reminded of what a rich community we live in,” Nathan Thompson, an area resident and volunteer, told us.
“It was also great to see business leaders out here today. I met Steve Rodgers who runs the Bonnie Youth Club,” Thompson said. “He was painting and then took it upon himself to approach other business owners about the state of their facades. It was great to see the variety of participants.”
On behalf of all of us — Thank You to each and every volunteer, and to the Flatbush Development Corporation and the Church Avenue BID.
