Cops handcuffed a teenager Sunday for defacing part of the 9/11 memorial at MCU Park, the Daily News reports.

A witness spotted the 15-year-old vandal spray painting “JD SMU” on part of the Brooklyn Wall of Remembrance, located at at MCU Park on Surf Avenue, according to the News. The granite wall displays 400 laser-engraved portraits of first responders who were killed on September 11.

The witness called police who later picked up the teenager near the scene of the crime, the newspaper reports.

Family members of those memorialized on the wall were reportedly disgusted by the thoughtless act of vandalism.

“Everyone on this wall that you see lost their lives on 9/11,” J.C. Webb, whose second cousin, Nathaniel Webb, died on September 11, told the Daily News.

Last year, a homeless man was arrested for smearing white paint on the wall. Surveillance video recorded the incident and the man, said to be “deranged,” was later picked up by police.
