Talk About Death At The Morbid Anatomy Museum On Tuesday

Louise de Winter

Death is hard to talk about, but funeral planner Louise de Winter wants to help make it easier. She is hosting a Death Cafe, where you can discuss all matters of death, dying, and life over a cup of tea and a slice of cake, at the Morbid Anatomy Museum on Tuesday at 6pm.

The objective of the Death Cafe is “to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives.” It’s all about having an interesting, unstructured conversation.

De Winter’s mission is to disrupt the death industry by “doing death differently.” She hopes to encourage everyone to embrace life, by embracing death.

“Death Cafes are never as depressing as they might sound! The cafes are usually uplifting, energizing and enlightening experiences, with contributions from many interesting people,” says de Winter.

The Death Cafe concept was started in the United Kingdom and has quickly spread throughout Europe and to the United States. You can learn more about Death Cafes here.

The Death Cafe takes place on Tuesday July 28 at 6pm at the Morbid Anatomy Museum, 424-A 3rd Avenue. If you’d like to attend, RSVP here.
