Taking Time For You: Upcoming Fitness & Wellness Classes

The holiday season can get pretty stressful, so why not schedule a bit of time for yourself? Here’s a few of our local businesses that have health and wellness workshops or events on the horizon:

Ladies Self Defense Course
When: Monday, November 18 from 7:15pm to 8:15pm
Where: Amerikick (14th Street at the corner of 5th Avenue)
What: Amerikick is hosting a FREE ladies self defense course on practical attacks that are done from behind. The class is open to the public, so be sure to tell your friends.

Race Around The Farmyard
When: Saturdays and Sundays through November 30, from 2:30pm to 3:30pm
Where: Lefferts House, Prospect Park
What: Let the whole family blow off some steam  at the Lefferts House with potato sack races, spoon races, stilts and other old fashioned games. There is a $3 suggested donation.

Labor & Delivery: An Active Workshop For Partners
When: Saturdays and Sundays through November 30, from 2:30pm to 3:30pm
Where: Jaya Park Slope, 1626 8th Avenue at Windsor Place
What: This workshop leads couples in techniques to achieve calmness and facilitate labor. Look for gravity-friendly movements, massage, breath, and other techniques that are often absent in hospital birthing classes. The class is $100 per couple. Personal Touch Workshop
When: Friday, December 6, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Where: Bodhisattva Yoga, 442 9th Street at 7th Avenue
What: Learn hands-on techniques for personal and partner bodywork therapy. Bodhisattva says that the workshop is geared toward “fitness professionals to use with private clients, couple’s seeking increased physical bonding and friends that want to share newly learned bodywork techniques with each other.” The class is $55.
