Take A Class With The Walk-In Cookbook & Support CHiPS
The Walk-In Cookbook, the unique cooking shop at 72 7th Avenue, has announced a winter 2014 event series in support of CHiPS, the soup kitchen and women’s shelter located at 200 4th Avenue. They’ve invited chefs and food experts for a series of cooking classes, workshops, performances, and field trips for adults and children. Expect delicious food to be cooked and served along with drinks at every event, with proceeds from tickets going to CHiPS.
The series kicks off on Tuesday, January 7 when nutritionist Jan-Peter Christiansen will discuss the benefits of a plant-based diet, and runs through March 16, with 10 events that include a hands-on workshop about permaculture, a lesson on dinners that can be made in under 20 minutes, an interactive storytime to help encourage a love of reading and food, and more.
Tickets run from $25-$35 depending on the event, and some are free for kids under 12. Most events take place at CHiPS, though a couple meet up at other Park Slope locations. You can see the full list of events and buy tickets here, and for more information, contact info@walkincookbook.com.
