Take-a-Book, Leave-a-Book: 100 Story House at JJ Byrne Through October 26

Have you noticed the small brownstone that popped up by the Old Stone House a few weeks ago?

The 100 Story House is a community book sharing project by Julia Marchesi and artist Leon Reid IV. According to Marchesi and Reid, the project “is an effort to celebrate the BOOK as a physical object, and the pleasure of holding it in your hand. Or better yet, placing it in someone else’s.”

The concept is simple. If you find a book you’re dying to read, take it. Read it there in the park or bring it home with you. Make sure, though, that you leave a book for someone else to discover, too. This way, the lending library remains stocked.

So put down those Kindles, Nooks and iPads, Park Slope and go take a gander through the selection at the 100 Story House.

The 100 Story House is located between the Old Stone House and J.J. Byrne Playground, 5th Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets, and will be up through October 26.
