After our report yesterday about a thick, black cloud of smoke billowing along Avenue U [/breaking-thick-smoke-envelops-avenue-u-near-bedford-ave/], near Bedford Avenue, we received the above photo from reader Ariela K. The photo clearly shows that the smoke was coming from a manhole, further suggesting some sort of utility-related malfunction as we speculated
