Ta-Nehisi Coates, Patti Smith, And “Welcome To Night Vale” Authors Join Greenlight’s Autumn Literary Series

The Brooklyn Voices literary reading series is back and has quite the lineup this year: featuring the likes of Ta-Nehisi Coates, Jonathan Franzen, Patti Smith, Kristin Hersh, and “Welcome To Night Vale” authors Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor.

The series kicks off this Saturday, September 26, at the SJC Brooklyn campus’s Tuohy Hall (245 Clinton Avenue, between DeKalb and Willoughby Avenues), with Franzen and journalist Wyatt Mason discussing the author’s latest novel, “Purity,” this Saturday at 6:30pm. Tickets are $30.

Also highly anticipated are the readings with musician Patti Smith and journalist, cultural critic, and author Ta-Nehisi Coates — both events are currently sold out, although fans can still order signed/autographed copies of their books from local bookseller and series co-sponsor Greenlight Bookstore.

Smith will be discussing her new memoir, “M Train,” on October 8 (order here) while Coates is slated to appear to discuss his latest book, “Between The World And Me” on October 15 (order here).

October 21 marks Hersh’s appearance and musical performance with her book “Don’t Suck, Don’t Die: Giving Up Vic Chesnutt,” and podcast fans/readers are also acknowledged with the hugely popular “Welcome To Night Vale” novel authors, Fink and Cranor, arriving to close out the series on November 12.
