Sustainable Flatbush Herbal Workshop Series Begins Saturday, July 12

Sustainable Flatbush is once again partnering with Sacred Vibes Apothecary to offer free workshops on using herbs for health and wellness. The series kicks off on Saturday July 12, with workshops at 10am and 1pm. The workshops will be held at the Flatbush Reformed Church, located at East 21 Street at Kenmore Terrace. (The church’s listed address is 890 Flatbush Avenue, but the entrance is on East 21 Street.)

On Saturday, the 10am event, titled “Remembering Your Passion,” will kick off the series. Sustainable Flatbush writes:

This introductory workshop will give you actionable items on how to remember your passions through connection with your body, higher self and ancestors. We have broken this workshop out into three groups: mind, body and spirit. We will use herbs, higher self practices, exercise and energy work to help connect you with your ancestors as our conduit to remembering your passions — thus uncovering your purpose.

As for the 1pm “Healing for Healers” workshop, Sustainable Flatbush writes:

Are you depleted from healing others? Who takes care of you, the caregiver? This workshop will address the trauma and energetic pain that caregivers and healers often experience from their healing work. Many times we do not realize we have taken on this trauma as our own, and if left unattended, how it can negatively affect our own health and the health of those we care for.
Methods for identifying when this is happening to you will be discussed. Herbal remedies and nutritional recommendations to support and heal yourself will be provided, along with handouts, recipes, and a DIY take home herbal treat! This workshop is appropriate for anyone who provides care for others, whether it is personally or professionally.

The group notes that in many of the workshops they spend time making different herbal preparations – such as teas, tinctures, oils, and syrups. If you would like to bring some home with you, please bring a clean two-ounce baby food jar. If you have more than one jar, bring some to share!

Sustainable Flatbush noted that is important to them that their workshops are as accessible as possible. The outdoor workshops are held in a space with no steps or stairs, but not all walkways are paved. Please email kate.florence@gmail.com with any concerns about accessibility.

To RSVP, or if you have any questions or concerns, please also email kate.florence@gmail.com.
