Suspect In Attempted Rape Incident Is Violent, Threatened To Return, Says Victim

The woman who was followed home and assaulted last month spoke to news outlets this week about the chilling incident, saying that her assailant is violent and threatened to rape her the next time he saw her.

As we reported, the suspect followed the 34-year-old woman from work on July 31, at 2:30am, and on 74th Street and 20th Avenue, he grabbed her from behind and began to kiss her neck, police said.

The victim broke free, cops said, but CBS reports that the incident didn’t end there (watch interview above):

The victim said she couldn’t unlock her front door, so the suspect ran up onto the porch, terrorizing her with a threat to return, CBS2’s Hazel Sanchez reported.
Her husband tracked down the suspect immediately after the attack, the victim said. The two got into a fight and the suspect bit a part of her husband’s finger off, the victim said. The suspect then vowed to go back to the family’s home with his friends to finish what he started, Sanchez reported.

Surveilance footage taken from the victim’s home appears to show the perpetrator grabbing the woman, leaving, and then returning to say something to her. Police sources say they are treating the incident as an attempted rape because of the perpetrator’s alleged threat to rape her later.

The suspect is described a Hispanic man in his 20s, between 5 feet, 5 inches and 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a thin build and long, dark hair. The woman told the outlet that he may also have a lip or nose piercing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the 62nd Precinct or the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577.

Editor’s note: Earlier reports said the incident happened August 5, but police told us that the incident actually happened on July 31.
