Suspect Apprehended In Rugby Road Home Invasion

Updated Friday, 12:30pm: Police said the man who has been arrested is Dwight Toussaint, 20, of East New York. There have been no other arrests made as of this afternoon, according to the NYPD.

Original post: One male suspect has been apprehended in the home invasion that happened at 379 Rugby Road last Wednesday morning, when neighbor Leonard Phillips, 69, was shot and killed, 70th Precinct Community Council President Ed Powell just told us.

We have yet to learn from police the individual’s name or where he is from, but we’ll update you as soon as we find out.

Police are continuing to search for the other two suspects in last week’s home invasion, when they said three men rang the doorbell at the Rugby Road home, allegedly tied up 71-year-old Linda Phillips and demanded money. Leonard Phillips, a longtime neighbor who was an accomplished auto mechanic, was shot and killed when he confronted the the men, according to the NYPD and neighbors.
