Support The Flatbush Community Garden At A Huge Tag Sale Fundraiser This Sunday, June 7

This Sunday, June 7, you can pick up some new clothes, jewelry, records and more while supporting all the great work done by neighbors at the Flatbush Community Garden.

The garden will hold its first-ever tag sale fundraiser from 11am-3:30pm at 646 E. 18th Street, by Foster Avenue, where everyone is welcome to come and browse the huge variety of items donated by garden members, including: antiques, art, sterling silver, cut crystal, jewelry, accessories, records, pottery, kitchenware, housewares, clothes, and more.

All of the proceeds will benefit the Flatbush Community Garden, a volunteer-run garden located near Albemarle and Buckingham Roads. Launched by neighbor Susan Siegel in the summer of 2008, the garden first operated as a project of Sustainable Flabush, ultimately becoming independent in 2010.

Throughout the years, it has created a space for neighbors of all ages and backgrounds to come together to create an organic garden, where fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers are grown in “a space that fosters unity and pride within the community while supporting healthy eating and local sustainable agriculture,” the garden’s website states.

The garden is located on private property and while the landowner has generously agreed to lend a portion of her back yard for the garden, the members still have to pay for all the costs associated with the garden, including water, tools, compost, and insurance.
