Twenty-five units and 106 firefighters responded to a call received at 3:45am at 4815 6th Avenue between 48th and 49th Streets, a three-story residential building, an FDNY representative said.

The fire was on the second floor of the building. While the FDNY would not confirm whether any of the building’s residents were at home at the time of the fire, neighbors told News 12 that residents of the apartment were not there.

The fire was under control by approximately 5am. One firefighter sustained serious injuries while battling the blaze and six sustained minor injuries. All were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
