Sunset Bagels Opens In Ditmas Park: It’s A 24-Hour Bagel Party!

On Sunday, June 11, Sunset Bagels kicked off their grand opening with a party at 1501 Foster Avenue, and the place was packed with neighbors eager for a first bite.

Until now, Catskill Bagel on Cortelyou Road was the closest place to grab a fresh, doughy bite for neighbors at the Newkirk Plaza stop. With Sunset’s opening, which we announced in May, this side of the neighborhood not only has its own bagel place, but that place is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This is the third location of the chain for owners Marcel and Angelo, who we caught in a moment of calm between rushing around welcoming everyone.

To celebrate the opening, there was face painting, free kids toys, and more. Marcel’s daughter, Mazal, even got in on the act.

We tried the bagels and they are solid.

“So good!” we heard one patron exclaim while biting into one.

The iced coffee with milk wasn’t bitter (a pitfall of iced coffee) and hit the spot on a 95-degree day.

And bagels aren’t the only thing they serve. They’ve got loads of other food — salads, wraps, and paninis as well as fresh juice and smoothies.

Stop by the new place whenever you have a chance and tell us what you think. No excuses – it’s open all the time.
