Subway Tiles Replaced At Cortelyou Road, With Some Nasty Nails At Beverley

It only took six months, but our local northbound subway platforms are finally getting those missing tiles back! Above was the scene when the stations first reopened in late October after months of renovations, and neighbors were rightfully confused and displeased. But on Tuesday, neighbor Julie Subrin noticed MTA workers at the Cortelyou station replacing some of the tiles (which apparently took about five months to ship)–and since then, the majority of missing tiles are, well, no longer missing.

This panel still needs some work on the border, but underwent a dramatic transformation over the past few days. See the two photos below.

Down the platform, other small sections of tile have been replaced, too.

The top photo out of the two above is from a March 9 video, and the one directly above was taken on Wednesday.

While part of the panel above and below was still missing as of last night, the multi-step process of the replacing tiles is clearly underway.

Just steer clear of these pokey guys!

And what’s worse, be cautious of these nails at the Beverley Road station, sent in by Jon Rosenberg.

We hope if workers are removing any tiles on southbound platforms, the MTA has learned a lesson and already ordered replacements. Are you happy to report any other improvements at local stations as of late–or stuff you should warn us about?
