Subway & Bus Changes For The Holiday Weekend
Happy Fourth of July weekend, everyone! As you set out with picnic baskets and beach blankets, remember if you’re using public transportation that trains and buses will be operating on a Saturday schedule on Friday, July 4.
Also, the LIRR and Metro-North will provide additional early-afternoon service from Manhattan today, July 3, for those of you who want to get an early start to your Independence Day weekend, with 17 extra trains departing Grand Central Terminal between 12pm and 4pm today. Another eight extra trains will depart from Penn Station between 2pm and 4 pm.
When it comes to taking the subway, don’t try to take the Q train into Queens. Because you won’t make it. The MTA reports that weekend Q service will operate between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and 57th Street-7th Avenue in Manhattan from Friday through Sunday.
And there are no changes scheduled for the B, hooray!
Remember, unscheduled changes can occur, so be sure to check out the MTA before setting out for your holiday adventure.
