Street Trees Summit in Greenpoint This Weekend

GREENPOINT – As spring approaches, Brooklynites across the borough are looking forward to green on their streets as trees start to leaf out and bloom. But instead of just watching, get involved with making Brooklyn a more beautiful borough at the Street Tree Stewardship Summit in Greenpoint this weekend!

On Saturday, March 24, Greening Greenpoint—in conjunction with NYC Parks, Partnership for Parks and Trees New York—will be teaching a seminar on how to care for neighborhood trees. A resident speaker will be followed by a panel discussion from the sponsoring partner organizations.

Attendees can enter a raffle for a tree care kit and a copy of “The Living Forest.” You can can also pick up free bulbs to plant on your block! Informational tables will be set up for asking questions and gathering further information from the organizations involved as well.

Greening Greenpoint is a four-year project launched in the Fall of 2015 that will develop is implementing an urban forestry plan in the North Brooklyn community, empowering local stewards and seeking to plant more than 500 new trees in the neighborhood.

This weekend’s event will run from 12:30 – 3:30 pm on Saturday, March 24 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 155 Milton Street, off the Greenpoint G. Sign up for the event here.
