Storm Coming

That big storm is creeping our way, with reports of hail in Manhattan, and some wild lightning and wind. We’re currently under a flash flood warning until 6:30pm and a severe thunderstorm warning until 5:30pm, so please be careful out there!

If you happen to take any photos of the storm in the neighborhood (hopefully from the safety of the indoors), send them to us at ditmasparkcorner@gmail.com, add them to our Flickr group, or share them with us on Facebook or Twitter.

UPDATE: Neighbor Ann Simkins just called in to report a tree has fallen down across East 17th Street, between Cortelyou and Dorchester. Nobody was injured, but the street is blocked, so avoid driving there!

Also, as K Hawkins noted in the comments, she saw hail on her 15th floor office ledge in the Flatiron area in Manhattan.

We totally missed out on hail, am I right? Which is a little disappointing (so long as it’s not damaging).

Another neighbor reports that a branch fell across the sidewalk and onto a porch roof on DeKoven between Rugby and the subway tracks. Again, thankfully, no one was hurt, but it’s a reminder to take these storms, and our big old trees, seriously.
