Still Time To Support CHiPS Before Giving Tuesday
There’s still some time to help CHiPS, the 4th Avenue organization that provides hot meals and more to families in need, before they wrap up their Giving Tuesday #ChipIn campaign.
CHiPS is asking people to raise money to help get them through the winter, their busiest time of the year, through creative fundraising events — hold a bake sale with neighbors on 7th Avenue, a raffle featuring prizes collected from local businesses, or just a donation box set up in your office. There’s more than a week before their open house on Giving Tuesday, so it’s not too late for you to get involved.
Of course, it’s a busy time of year — so if planning a fundraiser seems daunting, there are some other ways to help. They’ve got an event coming up on Tuesday, November 25 at 8pm, featuring a screening of Storied Streets with beer and popcorn — tickets are just $8, and they are limited. Or, you can always make a donation directly online.
The money raised will go a long way to helping neighbors in need. With just $25, CHiPS can feed 15 guests at its soup kitchen, and with $75, they can provide a week’s shelter for a homeless young mother, her newborn, and a toddler. Homeless rates in New York are up this year, so they expect to be busier than usual. Any amount can help!
