On Stage at Kingsborough is a performing arts center that brings world-class shows of all types, such as dance, theater, and music, to Kingsborough Community College. They just recently announced the full schedule for the 2016-2017 season, and it’s packed with premier performers from all over the world.

On Saturday, September 24, On Stage opens with the world-wide a capella sensation, Rockapella. They use nothing but their voices to create the sound of a full-band rock show. After that, on Friday, October 14, the legendary jazz group, Winard Harper and Jeli Posse bring their drum-centric act to Kingsborough to play jazz standards and compositions “steeped in traditions of African roots and Caribbean rhythms,” says the On Stage website.

DOT, a show from Maduixa Theatre in Spain, will be coming to On Stage at the end of October. With a combination of dance, music, theater, and technology, DOT provides a uniquely puzzling performance with a world of color.

Tony award-winning Chita Rivera will be there in November to perform signature numbers from her long, legendary career on stage. You can also celebrate Hanukkah on December 4 with the fiercely energetic and lovingly traditional klezmer band, Golem.

The State Ballet Theatre of Russia will be performing the holiday favorite, The Nutcracker, at On Stage on December 16. In The Heat of the Night, an award-winning novel, an Emmy award-winning television show, and an Oscar-winning film, will be brought to On Stage via the Drama Desk award-winning Godlight theater company.

On Stage is closing their season off with a journey of Celtic music and dance on May 20. “This dynamic tour de force takes you on a breathtaking journey of dance from the haunting beauty of Ireland to the spirited wilds of North America,” writes On Stage.

These are far from the only shows that will be featured at On Stage. You can see a comprehensive list here.
