Sprout Brooklyn Offers Dual Language Day Camp (Sponsored)

Sprout Brooklyn, a Young Judaea Day Camp, is a place where children from a wide spectrum of Jewish backgrounds join together to create a joyful Jewish community based on values, friendship, tikkun olam (repairing the world), and a sense of peoplehood. Sprout Brooklyn provides campers with a deeper  connection to Israel, to the Jewish community and to themselves.

Sprout Brooklyn is a summer day camping experience of Camp Young Judaea Sprout Lake open to campers entering Pre-K through 3rd grade.

Sprout Brooklyn is proud to partner with the Israeli-American Council to offer Brooklyn’s premier Dual Language Day Camp. Campers will spend half of each day immersed in the Hebrew language while they enjoy activities such as instructional swimming, cooking, and sports. Each group will have at least one fluent Hebrew counselor.

Sprout Brooklyn, opening in the summer of 2015 in Red Hook, will provide a new model of day camping, which includes skill building in the areas of swimming, sports, performing arts, crafts, and the exploration of nature all interwoven with dynamic experiential Jewish programming and Hebrew. What distinguishes this camp is our holistic approach to Jewish and Israel education and child development.

Sprout Brooklyn is a special place that caters specifically to young children. Our age appropriate activities help each child achieve their full potential, while teaching them important skills like teamwork and relationship building. Our staff are a mix of college students and professionals who work at Sprout Brooklyn because they want to help make a difference in the lives of young children.

Camp begins between 8:30am and 9am and ends at 4pm. A typical day will include swim instruction, outdoor and indoor sports clinics, arts, Jewish and Israel education, and creative play. Each day will begin and end with community gatherings. Camp will provide two healthy snacks per day and campers will be required to bring a Kosher (dairy) packed lunch each day.

Sprout Brooklyn is located at the Basis Independent School in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The Basis School is a brand new, state of the art facility boasting classrooms, an indoor gym, art studio, and theater. It also has abundant areas of outdoor space and a playground. We use the local Red Hook pool for swimming lessons.

Bus transportation is provided each day from different stops in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Bus schedules will be published prior to the summer. Bus transportation will cost $200 per session.

All of our bus drivers have their New York State Commercial Driver Licenses (CDL). We use 20 passenger school bus vehicles and mini-vans. Each vehicle is led by a Sprout Brooklyn bus counselor. He or she is responsible for the well-being of our campers.

Buses will depart camp at 4pm and will drop off anywhere between 4:30pm and 5:30pm.
