South Slope Weekday Events Spotlight: September 28-30
The end of September is nigh, so enjoy the last few days of the month with a few fantastic events from around the area. With everything from skating tots and kiddie rock, to Iced Ink and Empire, folks in the Slope won’t have to go far for fun. Below are some of our top weekday picks:

The Brain Cloud
When: Monday, September 28, 7pm
Where: Barbes, 376 9th Street near 6th Avenue
What: Make your way to Barbes on Monday night and let Brain Cloud serenade you with their Bob Wills inspired “New Orleans-meets-Texas, strings-meet-horns, jazz-meets-country sound.” It’s great stuff.
How much: $10 (strongly) suggested donation.
Toddlers On A Roll
When: Tuesday, September 29, 9:30am-12pm
Where: LeFrak Center, Lakeside
What: Burn off some of that high octane toddler energy with a skate session designed just for our youngest neighbors. Admission also includes games, music, activities, and snacks from 10-11am.
How much: $15 per child.
Rock With Adam
When: Tuesday, September 29, 1:30pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Are you ready to rock? Neighborhood kids are definitely in for a treat as guitarist Adam Blotner plays some of his favorite tunes.
How much: Free, but tickets are required for entry (one per family), so be sure to arrive early to score your ticket.
Life Choices: How To Create An Estate Plan That Protects Your Family
When: Tuesday, September 29, 6pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: If you’ve wanted to create a will, but didn’t know where to start, join Friends of Park Slope Library for an interactive discussion with Brooklyn lawyer Brian Esser, that will cover issues such as picking a guardian, creating a trust, and managing estate taxes.
How much: Free.
Iced Ink
When: Tuesday, September 29, 9pm
Where: Freddy’s, 627 5th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Streets
What: If you wake up in the mood for a “pop culture stream of conscience neatly crammed into unique 4 minute long music meatballs,” on Tuesday, make your way to Freddy’s, for their 9pm Iced Ink performance. The guitar/bass/drums trio is sure to delight!
How much: Free.
Kids Create
When: Wednesday, September 30, 4:15-5pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Need some after school activities on Wednesday? Head over to our local library for crafts, stories, and other fun things to do. Note that the program is geared toward children six and up, but younger kids are welcome with an adult.
How much: Free.
Empire Wednesdays
When: Wednesday, September 30, 9pm
Where: Excelsior, 563 5th Avenue, between 15th and 16th Streets
What: Empire is back, and Excelsior is rocking the hit program on their television screen every Wednesday. Grab a cocktail, kick back with some friends, and enjoy the show.
How much: No cover.
