Ready for a week of fantastic events right here in our own neighborhood? With everything from tropical tunes and winter jobs, to crafty kids and booze soaked standards, folks in the Slope won’t have to go far for fun. Don’t miss some of our top weekday picks from around the area.

Tropical Vortex Monday
When: Monday, October 12, 9:30pm
Where: Barbes, 376 9th Street and 6th Avenue
What: The snow and ice of winter are still a few months away (fingers crossed), but Tropical Vortex Monday is ready to warm your soul at Barbes, with sounds from Latinolandia and beyond.
How much: $10 strongly suggested donation.

Winter Season Job Fair
When: Tuesday, October 13, 10am-4pm
Where: LeFrak Center, Lakeside
What: Looking for a little seasonal work? Lakeside will hold their first winter job fair on Tuesday, October 13. Both rink staff and food/beverage positions are available. For more information, visit the Lakeside website.

Rock With Adam
When: Tuesday, October 13, 1:30pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Are you ready to rock? Neighborhood kids are definitely in for a treat as guitarist Adam Blotner plays some of his favorite tunes.
How much: Free, but tickets are required for entry (one per family), so be sure to arrive early to score your ticket.

Kids Create
When: Wednesday, October 14, 4:15-5pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Need some after school activities on Wednesday? Head over to our local library for crafts, stories, and other fun things to do. Note that the program is geared toward children six and up, but younger kids are welcome with an adult.
How much: Free.

Old Rugged Sauce
When: Wednesday, October 14, 9pm
Where: Freddy’s, 627 5th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Streets
What: Get thee to Freddy’s on Wednesday for “booze soaked standards done saloon style.” Featuring Paul Sosnowski on vocals and guitar, Robbie “Seahag” Mangano on guitar, and Dave Dreiwitz on bass.
How much: Free.
