South Slope Weekday Events Spotlight: November 9-11

There may be a November chill in the air, but our neighborhood is hot with local entertainment! From Zumba and Veterans Day activities, to whiskey and performance art, folks in the Slope won’t have to go far for fun. Here are some of our favorite weekday events from around the area.

Zumba
When: Monday, November 9, 5pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Kick off a new fitness regimen at the Park Slope Library every Monday, as the branch hosts an energetic Zumba class for the community.
How much: Free.

Rock With Adam
When: Tuesday, November 10, 1:30pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Are you ready to rock? Neighborhood kids are definitely in for a treat as guitarist Adam Blotner plays some of his favorite tunes.
How much: Free, but tickets are required for entry (one per family), so be sure to arrive early to score your ticket.

Having A Whiskey Coke With You
When: Tuesday, November 10, 8pm
Where: Freddy’s, 627 5th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Streets
What: Come out to Freddy’s on Tuesday night for “a reading and performance series featuring a community of New York’s finest poets, writers, musicians, performers and artists.” In addition to the scheduled performers, there’s also an open mic. Those interested in reading can sign up at Freddy’s the night of the event.
How much: Free.

Veterans Day In Prospect Park
When: Wednesday, November 11
Where: Prospect Park
What: Kids have the day off of school on Wednesday? From nature events at the Audubon Center to potato sack races at Lefferts House, Prospect Park is ready to entertain the family during the Veterans Day holiday.
How much: Nature programs: free, Lefferts House: $3 suggested donation, and carousel: $2 per ride.

American Horror Story Wednesdays
When: Wednesday, November 11, 10pm
Where: Excelsior, 563 5th Avenue, between 15th and 16th Streets
What: American Horror Story is in full swing, and Excelsior is playing the hit program on their television screen every Wednesday. Grab a cocktail, kick back with some friends, and enjoy the show.
How much: No cover.
