South Slope Weekday Events Spotlight: November 16-18

There may be a November chill in the air, but our neighborhood is hot with local entertainment! With everything from Zumba and fiery Balkan brass, to comedy and author readings, folks in the Slope won’t have to go far for fun. Here are some of our favorite weekday events from around the area.

Zumba
When: Monday, November 16, 5pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Kick off a new fitness regimen at the Park Slope Library every Monday, as the branch hosts an energetic Zumba class for the community.
How much: Free.

Ed Sullivan on Acid
When: Monday, November 16, 9pm
Where: Freddy’s, 627 5th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Streets
What: Raise a glass to these glorious fall days with “Brooklyn’s longest running comedy stand up” at Freddy’s on Monday night.
How much: No Cover.

Rock With Adam
When: Tuesday, November 17, 1:30pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Are you ready to rock? Neighborhood kids are definitely in for a treat as guitarist Adam Blotner plays some of his favorite tunes.
How much: Free, but tickets are required for entry (one per family), so be sure to arrive early to score your ticket.

Slavic Soul Party
When: Tuesday, November 17, 9pm
Where: Barbes, 376 9th Street near 6th Avenue
What: If you’re looking for “fiery Balkan brass, throbbing funk grooves, Gypsy accordion wizardry, and virtuoso jazz chops,” don’t miss Slavic Soul Party, hitting the Barbes stage on Tuesday night.
How much: $10 (strongly) suggested donation.

When: Wednesday, November 18, 7:30pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Author Sara Lippman reads selections from her debut short story collection, Doll Palace, this Wednesday at the Park Slope Library.
How much: Free.
