South Slope Weekday Events Spotlight: April 20-22

Don’t wait until this weekend for a little neighborhood fun! With everything from beer school and trivia, to kiddie rock and poetry, South Slope is definitely the place to be through Wednesday. Here are some of our favorite events from around the area:

Beer School
When: Monday, April 20, 7pm
Where: South, 629 5th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Streets
What: Why wasn’t this class ever in our college schedule? The good folks at South welcome Paul from Two Roads Brewing on Monday night for Beer School. Sample some of the Two Roads new spring beers, grab a sandwich, and feel good about it…because it’s all educational!
How much: Free.

Trivia Night
When: Tuesday, April 21, 8pm
Where: Johnny Mack’s, 1114 8th Avenue and 12th Street
What: If you’ve got some trivial knowledge just taking up room in your brain, let it out here for the possibility of free shots and prizes!
How much: Free.

Rock With Adam
When: Wednesday, April 22, 10:30am
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Are you ready to rock? Neighborhood kids are definitely in for a treat as guitarist Adam Blotner plays some of his favorite tunes.
How much: Free, but tickets are required for entry (one per family), so be sure to arrive early to score your ticket.

Folk Sing-A-Long With Katy Stone
When: Wednesday, April 22, 11:30am
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: After Rock With Adam wraps up, the library is getting folksy with Katy Stone. Geared toward children through age 5. As with the above performance, note that tickets are required, so be sure to arrive to the library early and secure your spot.
How much: Free.

Shape Up NYC: Glutes In Gear
When: Wednesday, April 22, 6-7pm
Where: Prospect Park, Audubon Center
What: Looking for a belly-busting, booty shaping workout? This two-part class focuses on high-endurance cardio and mat work to build your core, and flatten and tighten your abs and glutes. No registration is required, but be sure to bring your own mat.
How much: Free.

Poetry Reading At The Park Slope Library
When: Wednesday, April 22, 6:15-7:45pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue at 9th Street
What: Make your way to the library on Wednesday night for a poetry reading, featuring some the city’s most prominent young writers. Look for readings from Melissa Buzzeo, Lucas de Lima, Anne Lesley Selcer, and Emji Spero.
How much: Free.
