South Slope Events Spotlight: November 29-December 2

From holiday art sales to free yoga, there’s plenty to do around South Slope this weekend, and these are our top picks.

Thursday, November 29

Thursday through Sunday, 440 Gallery will be hosting a holiday art sale, featuring original works by local artists. The best part is that, with items ranging from $4.40 to $440, there is something available for every budget. Be sure to stop by and support local art. Hours are Thursday-Friday from 4-7pm and Saturday-Sunday from 11am-7pm.

Friday, November 30

Looking for something different on Friday? Head over to Freddy’s at 9pm for I Love Cars. The group combines “jazz and improvised music with rock, folk songs and classical music from the 19th and 20th century.”

Saturday, December 1

There’s nothing better than messy art play, especially when somebody else is going to clean it up. Bring the whole crew down to Hootenanny Art House (426-428 15th Street) this Saturday from 3pm-5pm for Open Family Art. You bring the creativity and imagination, and Hootenanny will provide the materials to bring it to life. $20 suggested donation per family.

Sunday, December 2

Looking for a bit of yoga action this weekend? Jaya Yoga Center (1626 8th Avenue) will host a free community yoga class on Sunday from 8-9:15pm. The showcase, appropriate for all abilities, gives new teachers and graduates of the Jaya Teacher Training Program the opportunity to practice their skills.
