South Slope Events Spotlight: February 28 – March 3

A chance to see a trombonist who’s played with a member of Twisted Sister, beer and oysters and metal, and for those looking for a slightly quieter weekend, there’s also a storytime to look forward to.

Thursday, February 28

Friday, March 1

Starting at 8pm, you’ll get two sets at Freddy’s (627 5th Ave) from the Nick Grinder Group, which features a young trombonist (pictured above) who has played with the likes of Joshua Redman, Mark Ferber, and Joe Lovano, as well as pop icons Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and yes, even Dee Snider of Twisted Sister.

Saturday, March 2

Hear songs about heartbreak, joyful ballads in major keys, and bal-mussete waltzes when the Hot Club Of New York plays Barbes (376 9th St) at 6pm. They’re celebrating the release of their debut CD, which you’ll be able to pick up at the show.

Sunday, March 3
