Soul Train Line Commences & Acts Announced For BEAT Festival 2014

This morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill residents (and probably just some people who were waiting for an occasion to use their brilliantly modified version of the cabbage patch, the sprinkler, and the shopping cart) descended upon Fowler Square to dance it out and hear who’d be playing at the annual Brooklyn Emerging Artists in Theater (BEAT) Festival.

This year’s schedule (from September 11-20) includes poetry, music, and improv performances, a cemetery tour and dancing, “Stop & Frisk: The Musical,” an “urban cantata” based on the life of late tenants’ rights activist Bruce Bailey, and a ton more, with events at local venues Irondale Arts Center, Kumble Theater, BLDG 92, MetroTech Commons, and Barclays Center.

Prices for individual events vary, but you may purchase a season pass for $60. For the full lineup, see the BEAT Festival calendar.
