Snack Of The Week: Salted Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies

Depending on how open you are to meat- and dairy-free options, you may be thinking right now, Why ruin a good cookie? But seriously–we (and Eater) dream about these things. Available at both Lark and Cafe Madeline, these animal-friendly treats top all of the more traditional variations we’ve ever tried.

Whatever Greenpoint’s Ovenly is putting in these little darlings would be great as just a straight-up sweet chocolate chip gob of excellence, but the sprinkle of sea salt on top really seals the deal both in terms of bringing out the richness of the chips, and providing a really satisfying texture within a non-crunchy cookie.

We also noticed while picking up the cookie that Lark is now carrying four kinds of homemade pop tarts from Magpies: chocolate, lemon, strawberry, and mixed berry (clockwise from top). How long has this been going on? We remember strawberry, but are excited to try the rest down the line.

The cookies will run you $2.50 a pop (and will leave you so much happier than a $2.99 package of Chips Ahoy), and the pop tarts are $3.99.
