Six Activities For Spring Break Fun Around Ditmas Park
11 days, including weekends. That is how much time you’ll need to fill with activities for your school age kids over spring break, which officially starts April 14–but really, if we think back to how excited we were as kids about time off from school, starts this Saturday.
Our sister site City Kid Camp lists Brooklyn-wide free, inexpensive, and creative camp alternatives. Want to stay close to home? Here are six activities in and around Ditmas Park:
- Lark Cafe (1007 Church Avenue between E 10th Street and Stratford Road) has a full schedule of sing-a-longs and science classes. Parents can enjoy delicious coffee and healthy snacks while their little ones play.
- Midwood Martial Arts (1302 Avenue H on the corner of Argyle Road) continues with its regular schedule of classes, athletic and artsy.
- Cortelyou Library (1305 Cortelyou Road on the corner of Argyle Road) will be open and is always a destination for snuggling up with a good book as well as taking advantage of daily free educational events.
- Brooklyn ARTery (1021 Cortelyou Road between Stratford Road and Coney Island Avenue) has classes for kids, parents and kids, or just for parents.
- Kent Theater (1170 Coney Island Avenue between Avenues H and I) is a little less expensive than other movie theaters, and is playing Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Muppets Most Wanted, and starting Thursday, Rio 2 3D.
- Tweens and teens can volunteer, or they can start training for CAMBA’s Healthy Way 5k.
