This Saturday, October 20th has a handful of events around Ditmas Park that you ought to know about:

• Everyone’s favorite giant document shredding truck Shredzilla will be in the neighborhood this Saturday, October 20 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in front of the Flatbush Food Co-op, as part of a day of events from Flatbush Development Corporation, Sustainable Flatbush, and the Flatbush Food Co-op.

• The FDC’s Green Corridor’s Initiative takes place on Saturday. You can plant all over the neighborhood including Glenwood Road, Avenue H at 10 a.m. and on Cortelyou Road following Shredzilla.

• From 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Almac Hardware in Newirk Plaza is sponsoring their annual Halloween Fun Fest for neighborhood kids. The event includes pumpkin painting, face painting, temporary tattoos and goodie bags.

• An e-waste recycling event, sponsored by the Lower East Side Ecology Center, will be happening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine at the Flatbush Food Coop, Cortelyou Road between Rugby and Marlborough Roads. The following working and non- working items will be accepted: computers, monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, mice, cables, TVs, VCRs, DVD players, phones, audio/visual equipment, video games, cell phones and PDAs. This is a free event for residents, small businesses and not-for-profits. You can get more information from lesecologycenter.org or by calling 212-477–4022.

• Finally, the 70th Precinct is hosting an iPhone etching event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can bring your iPhone — and other electronic devices such as smartphones or tablets — to the precinct and they will etch your personal information on the device to help prevent theft.
