Shore Parkway And Bay 43rd Street “Just Disgusting And Dangerous”
Our community certainly has its sore spots, but it’s hard to say if there’s any worse stretch of land in our community than Shore Parkway. Long neglected by the city (except to have big box stores championed by elected officials), it’s a haven for illegal dumping and debris. It seems every inch of Shore Parkway outside of Bay Ridge, from Bensonhurst to its Sheepshead Bay terminus to the east, appears to be the same story.
We’re not the only ones to notice. Reader Anna S. sent in the photo above with the following note:
Hello there, just wanted to take a second to thank you for what you guys doing for our neighborhood, we really appreciate it. I also wanted to share a picture that I see everyday when taking my newborn daughter for a walk.. This is shore parkway, beyween bay 43rd and 44th. I don’t know where else to write, but I think this is just disgusting and dengerous, there is must be someone responsible for this mess. Thanks a lot in advance!
We deserve better. It’s hard to tell from the photo if this is an abandoned lot, an active property or a cruddy corner of Calvert Vaux Park, which would be right behind the photographer. But let’s hope bringing some attention to it gets it cleaned up quickly.
