Several Brooklyn Schools Among State’s Highest Scoring

Several of Brooklyn’s schools scored the highest on state-level exams, including several located in Southern Brooklyn. News 12 is reporting that schools in Bath Beach, Bensonhurst, Dyker Heights and Coney Island were among the seven Brooklyn schools that secured top spots of all schools in New York State when it came to scoring high on the exams.

New York City institutions dominated the top 25 of schools that had the state’s highest test scores. In the top 25, 22 were from New York City and seven were from Brooklyn. The tests measured English and math scores at public elementary schools. Here is the list of schools that scored high from Southern Brooklyn:

  • P.S. 748 Brooklyn School for Global Scholars in Bath Beach (1664 Benson Avenue).
  • The Brooklyn School of Inquiry in Bensonhurst (50 Avenue P).
  • I.S. 187 The Christa McAuliffe School in Dyker Heights (1171 65th Street).
  • Mark Twain I.S. 239 for the Gifted and Talented in Coney Island (2401 Neptune Avenue).

According to News 12, Board of Education officials and Mayor Michael Bloomberg will be visiting the schools to congratulate them on their achievements.
