It’s a bleak, raw day today but Spring is coming.

On a visit to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden today, we were excited to see that lavender crocuses and snowdrops had made their arrival in spite of the rather chilly weather.

And there are several other plants and flowers at the Garden that are blooming right now.

The Garden is free on weekdays for the rest of February. And if you’re a resident of our area, it’s much easier to enter the Garden now that the Flatbush Avenue gate has been reopened.

There’s a bunch of interesting events happening at the Garden over the next few days — from a tour this Friday of their Bonsai plant collection, to a Sunday workshop on drip irrigation for gardens, backyards and roofs.

And don’t forget — the blooming of the Cherry Trees is only a few weeks away! Check here to see the status of the blossoms.

Happy Spring!
