See Films By Ditmas Parkers, In Theaters & From The Comfort Of Home
After that short bout of sunny weather this weekend, it looks like some rain, wind, and clouds will compel us to stay inside again for the next couple of days. Whether you plan to keep dry and toasty in a theater or without leaving your house, here are some flicks to catch from Ditmas Park filmmakers:
- Ditmas Park native Eliza Hittman’s It Felt Like Love, an official selection of BAMcinemaFest and the Sundance and Rotterdam International Film Festivals, shows views of adolescence in the Brooklyn normally left out of movies. The coming of age story follows 14-year-old Lila through a summer in the central and southern parts of our borough (including a scene shot in Eliza’s parents’ basement), and is now playing at IFC Center.
- Neighbor Damon Maulucci’s Detonator, which was featured at last year’s Brooklyn Film Festival and praised by publications including The Village Voice, Filmmaker Magazine, and Film Threat, is now available to watch via iTunes, the Dish Newtork, and all Video On Demand platforms.
Here’s a list of a ton of other rainy weather marathon fodder filmed in Ditmas Park–and if you know of any other projects shot in the ‘hood or any recent developments from local filmmakers, leave a note in the comments and we’ll add them to our list.
