See Animals Open Presents At The Prospect Park Zoo

The animals at the Prospect Park Zoo have been very good all year and are now getting their holiday gifts. The zoo is giving everyone else the wonderful gift of allowing us to watch it happen.

Presents to the Animals events occur through the end of the month, at 11am and 3:30pm, with each session showcasing different animals tearing into treat-filled bags and boxes.

The remaining schedule is as follows:

December 21/22: Meerkats (morning), Mongoose (afternoon)

December 28/29: Geoffrey’s tamarins (morning), North American river otters (afternoon)

More information (as well as videos of previous unwrappings) available here.

If you’re planning to check it out, consider bringing up a new, unwrapped toy to donate to the Wildlife Conservation Society toy drive. The toys can be dropped at the park entrance and will be collected through December 31. For every toy given, you’ll receive one free general admission to the New York Aquarium. Donated toys will benefit families in need as a result of Hurricane Sandy.
