Second Fire On East 18th Street This Week Almost Extinguished, FDNY Says

A one-alarm fire at 229 East 18th Street (between Albemarle and Beverley Roads) is contained and is close to being extinguished, an FDNY spokesperson just told us.

The fire at 229 East 18th Street was called in to the FDNY at 3:45 this afternoon. Twelve units and 60 personnel responded.

The fire is in the back of the building, a neighbor told us. No injuries have been reported thus far.

This is the second fire on East 18th Street this week.

Another one-alarm fire, one block north at 145 East 18th Street (between Church Avenue and Albemarle Road), broke out just after midnight on Monday night, the FDNY confirmed.

The fire was contained in just over 20 minutes.

Three people were treated with minor injuries at the scene, the FDNY said. Twelve FDNY units and 60 personnel responded.
