Scaffolding Coming Down At PS 139
We noticed recently that the scaffolding surrounding PS 139 has been coming down, just in time for the new school year.
The elementary school has been hidden behind scaffolding since early 2014 for facade work, including “replacing parapets, certain sections of the roof and recaulking windows and doors in the building.” The construction, which was originally announced in the fall of 2013, was supposed to be completed by October 2014.
We reached out to find out to the Department of Education to find out about the status of the work and to see if there was an explanation for why the project was nearly a year behind schedule.
“The work has been finished,” was the succinct (and only) response we received from the DOE.
Hopefully this means that the playground on Argyle Road that has been partially closed for the last year and a half will be open again.
