Sawasde Thai Cooking Opens At 359 McDonald Avenue

Sawasde owner

For those of you who were sad to bid adieu to Amma-Chili Basil Thai Kitchen this fall, we have good news for you!

Sawasde Thai Cooking has just opened in the former Amma-Chili Basil Thai space at 359 McDonald Avenue, and owner Brian Wong told us he’s excited for the neighborhood to try out the new spot.

Brian, who also owns Ghang Thai Kitchen at 229 Court Street in Cobble Hill, said they’re working on getting the entire planned menu up and running – but they’re open for business!

While we haven’t gotten to try the restaurant yet, we’ve been drooling over the menu. They have a huge range of items, including Thai dumplings ($5), curry puffs ($7), and crispy spring rolls ($5) for appetizers. For lunch, they have a number of specials, and for $9, you can get Pad Thai, a variety of curries, drunken noodle, and more. Plus, the specials come with a crispy spring roll, dumplings, soup, or salad, as well as a soda or water.

For dinner, there are again, about a million options, including pumpkin curry ($9.50 with chicken or tofu & veggies), massamun curry ($9.50), pad see-ew ($9 with chicken or tofu and veggies), duck noodle soup ($9), and a whole lot more. For the dinner specials, there is duck pineapple curry ($16), spicy red snapper ($15), grilled salmon mango salad ($17), massamun beef roti ($14), and more.

Desserts include sweet coconut sticky rice and mango, fried ice cream, and taro sticky rice (all $6).

Have you been there yet? Let us know how you liked it!
